Road Warrior: Smart meters planned for new parking spots, but for now they're free
New parking spots the city of Toledo recently set up on the left side of Erie Street north of Jefferson Avenue are free for now, but don’t expect that to last long. “The new parking is currently not metered, and Park Smart is in the process of getting and installing parking kiosks for each new section,” city spokesman Amy Voigt said Friday when I inquired. The new parking seemed to be especially popular last week near the Lucas County courthouse. I watched one person struggling to parallel park there without mashing one of the white “delineators” that supplement the painted pavement markings. Ms. Voigt said those plastic white posts “are expected to stay,” while orange barrels sprinkled between them to call further attention to the new lane layout on Erie are temporary.
Turnpike's new tolling system met with confusion, anger | 11 Investigates
SWANTON, Ohio — On April 10, the Ohio Turnpike put out a celebratory press release, announcing that the new toll collection system was live after a five-year overhaul. And then drivers almost immediately began missing the new toll plazas. And weeks later, those same drivers began getting letters in the mail saying they owed $19.
Sewer work to close residential street, county road
Sewer and roadway reconstruction will close a southwest Toledo street for three months starting Monday, the Toledo Department of Transportation announced. Saint Aubin Drive will be closed between Reynolds and South Haven roads, with no detour route posted. The northbound side of Whiteford Road, meanwhile, will be closed Monday through Friday for sewer repairs between Sylvania Avenue and Monroe Street in Sylvania Township, the Lucas County Engineer’s Office announced. The work site will be just north of Sylvania Avenue, blocking northbound access to Corey Road as well. A posted detour will use Sylvania, Talmadge Road, and Monroe.
