The Sri Chinmoy Oneness-Home Peace Run, the world's largest peace torch relay, is scheduled to pass through Toledo on Thursday.

A team of 12 international runners will traverse the North American route of the global event to help spread the message that peace begins with each individual’s inner peace.

Welcoming ceremonies are planned at 1:30 p.m. at Monroe Street United Methodist Church, 3613 Monroe St.; 3 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Toledo, 2250 N. Detroit Ave.; and 5 p.m. at the Perrysburg Heights Community Association, 12282 Jefferson St., Perrysburg.

The Peace Run launched in 1987 and has visited more than 150 countries. This year’s USA Canada Relay started April 15 in New York and stops at several cities before returning to New York on Aug. 17.
