SCORE seeks volunteer mentors for would-be entrepreneurs

SCORE, a national organization that offers coaching and mentoring to people planning to start a business or non-profit, is looking for Toledo-area volunteers to work with a growing number of would-be entrepreneurs.

Mentors should be successful businesspeople — either current or retired — who want to give back to the Toledo area. Those interested in mentoring can apply at SCORE.org , and click the “Volunteer” tab, and select “Become a Mentor.” A simple background check is also required.

Would-be mentors go through about 12 hours of training. Refresher classes are also available for those who haven’t recently started a business. Applicants are then required to co-mentor at least three clients with a more senior volunteer.
