Dog hit during deadly Seattle carjacking recovering from surgeries
SEATTLE - One of the dogs involved in the deadly Madison Valley neighborhood carjacking last week is recovering from several surgeries. Melanie Roberts is the granddaughter of beloved dogwalker Ruth Dalton, who was killed on August 20. She is now running a memorial Facebook page in remembrance of her grandmother.

STEM and Journalism camp draws more than 125 middle schoolers to MTHS
During the 2024 summer break from Aug. 20-22, Mountlake Terrace High School held its first journalism camp for aspiring young journalists. The Junior J-Camp, as it was called, was run in conjunction with the Edmonds School District’s annual STEM Camp – a highly successful mainstay each summer at Terrace. Overall, more than 125 sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students from throughout the area attended the camps.

“A champion of kindness.” That’s how Edmonds resident Lin Russell described a vendor who was staffing the Salt Blade booth at the rainy Edmonds Museum Summer Market Saturday. “As I stood in line for peaches, a mom and her very wet and shivering grade-school son were buying those yummy sausages at the next stand,” Russell said. “The young vendor at the booth asked the mom if her son needed a coat. The mom said ‘yes, but we did not bring one.’ Then Myles, the vendor, unzipped his own jacket and handed it to the boy. He asked only that they return his coat before they left the market. It is cold. It is raining, and this fine young man was so generous.”
