17-year-old girl dies after crashing into tree in Beaverton
BEAVERTON, Ore. (KPTV) - A 17-year-old girl died in a crash on Thursday afternoon, according to the Beaverton Police Department. Just before 2:30 p.m., emergency crews were called to a single-vehicle crash in the 19000 block of Tile Flat Road. Police say an investigation showed a white Jeep Wrangler lost control, went off the road, struck tree and came to rest upside down.

LINN COUNTY, Ore. — The Pyramid Fire is currently burning 615 acres and is 5% contained. It is located east of Middle Santiam Wilderness, and was caused by lightning. On Thursday, bulldozers, masticators, and heavy equipment finished building most of the control line around the fire perimeter using the existing road system.
Waldport accepting applications for mayor position and council seats; Holland not running again
WALDPORT — The city of Waldport is accepting applications for the position of mayor and three council seats for the Nov. 5 general election. Anyone wanting to run must fill out an application, complete the filing process and submit it to the Lincoln County clerk’s office no later than 5 p.m. Aug. 27. It is suggested mailed forms be sent by Aug. 20 to ensure receipt.
4-star DL Josiah Sharma flips his commitment from Oregon Ducks
One of the members of the Oregon Ducks’ 2025 recruiting class flipped his commitment on Thursday evening. Four-star defensive lineman Josiah Sharma announced he would commit to the Texas Longhorns, flipping his commitment from the Ducks. Sharma committed to the Ducks on June 28.
