As Texas Governor Greg Abbott gets around the new law Chicago passed on migrants getting bussed to the City, another Texas city, El Paso, dropped migrants off in the wrong location. Migrants were dropped off at a bus station on Thursday, December 21 and were told they were in Chicago.

Chicago City Council passed a law regarding migrants bussed to the city around December 13. Someone in El Paso must not have received that message.

According to ABC - 7, about 30 to 40 migrants were walking close to Love’s Travel Stop gas station where the bus driver dropped them off around 4:30 am. Shortly after, some migrants were discovered by members of the Kankakee County Sherriff’s office as they walked along a highway wrapped in blankets.

Some other migrants stayed at the gas station.

The sheriff’s office said according to Chicago Sun Times:

“The passengers, hailing from Venezuela, were left without money, food, adequate clothing, and were under the impression that they had reached their destination.”

According to Fox 32, migrants were dropped off in a total of three suburb locations. Bus drivers were trying to avoid getting fined by the City of Chicago.

To get around the new law put in place by Chicago, Governor Abbott flew a chartered plane of migrants to Chicago on December 19.

El Paso has recently seen a surge of migrants cross the border. According to KVIA, the City is reopening the Community Emergency Center.

The City is also preparing to open Morehead Middle School to house migrants. The school was previously closed and became a shelter to help house migrants temporarily.

Texas Represerntative Tony Gonzales said according to CBS 4:

"El Paso has been hit just like other places, and I know in the news Eagle Pass and Arizona are getting a lot of attention. In the last couple of days, there have been between 1,200 and 1,500 people who have come over illegally. In detention right now there are 4,500 people at the soft-sided facility that has a capacity of 2,500."

Do you think someone will come up with a solution to the migrant crisis?
