Since New York City Mayor Eric Adams made it harder for Texas to bus migrants to the City, recent migrants arrived in New Jersey and made their way to the Big Apple. Over the past few days, about 397 migrants arrived in New Jersey.

The migrants arrived on 10 buses and were dropped off at Secaucus, Fanwood, Edison, and Trenton New Jersey bus stations.

Secaucus Mayor Michael Gonnelli said in a statement posted online according to ABC 7:

"It seems quite clear the bus operators are finding a way to thwart the requirements of the executive order by dropping migrants at the train station in Secaucus and having them continue to their final destination."

Texas Governor Greg Abbott began flying migrants to New York City to get around the new travel order New York City Mayor Eric Adams declared on Wednesday, December 27 according to NY 1.

Under the order from Mayor Adams, migrant buses could only arrive in the city on weekdays from 8:30 am to noon according to ABC 7. New York City, Chicago, and Denver are making it harder for Texas to send migrants to these sanctuary cities.

Chicago implemented new rules similar to New York City according to News Nation Now.

Denver requires migrant buses to arrive between 8 am to 5 pm during the weekdays as mentioned in News Nation Now.

The three Democratic cities asked the Biden administration for more support in a joint press conference led by the mayors of each city.

Mayor Adams said in a virtual press conference with the mayors according to News Nation Now:

“We cannot allow buses with people needing our help to arrive without warning at any hour of day and night. This not only prevents us from providing assistance in an orderly way, it puts those who have already suffered in so much in danger.”

Last month, the mayors met with President Biden for more support.

One initiative that has been in the works is President Biden is speeding up the process for migrants to get work authorizations according to USA Today. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services is pre-registering migrants for work authorizations at border crossings in Brownsville, and El Paso, Texas, and San Ysidro, California.

In addition, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has been meeting with officials in Mexico over the migrant crisis according to his post on X, which is formerly Twitter.

The immigration issue is a key issue as voters head to the polls for this year’s presidential election. Republican challenger Donald Trump has ads criticizing President Biden over the immigration issue.

How do you think the migrant issue will look like this year?
