Governor Pritzker Begs Governor Abbott to Stop Busing Migrants to Chicago

Texas Governor Greg Abbott reached a milestone bussing over 100,000 migrants to sanctuary cities. Several sanctuary cities have pushed back against buses dropping off migrants. New York City and Chicago have announced drop-off times for these buses or the bus companies will be fined.

Now Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has begged Governor Abbott to stop sending migrant buses to the cold winter streets of Chicago.

In a recent press release, Governor Abbott has bused 30,800 migrants to Chicago since August 2022.

According to the Daily Mail, Governor Pritzker wrote a letter to Governor Abbott that said:

“Please, while winter is threatening vulnerable people's lives, suspend your transports and do not send more people to our state.”

Pritzker added:

“We should be able to come together in a bipartisan fashion to urge Congress to act. But right now, we are talking about human beings and their survival. I hope we can at least agree on saving lives right now.

“You seem to have no interest in working on bipartisan solutions to the border crisis because that would put an end to your cruel political game, but I am writing to you today hoping to appeal to your humanity.”

The weather is much colder in Chicago than Texas. Over the next few days, the weather channel showed Chicago temperatures drop to single digits and lower.

Governor Pritzker wrote according to NBC Chicago:

"You are now sending asylum seekers from Texas to the Upper Midwest in the middle of winter - many without coats, without shoes to protect them from the snow - to a city whose shelters are already overfilled with migrants you sent here."

Governor Pritzker said buses were dropping migrants off in the evening and at various locations in Chicago.
