Governor Abbott Told Tucker Carlson It Would Be a Bone-Headed Move to Federalize the Guard

While in India, Governor Greg Abbott called Tucker Carlson and shared his thoughts on the current crisis with the Biden administration. The U.S. Supreme Court recently supported U. S. Customs and Border Protection over Texas in the fight against migrants.

Governor Abbott disagreed with the Supreme Court’s ruling.

In a statement, Governor Abbott wrote according to a press release:

"The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now."

"President Biden has instructed his agencies to ignore federal statutes that mandate the detention of illegal immigrants. The failure of the Biden Administration to fulfill the duties imposed by Article IV, § 4 has triggered Article I, § 10, Clause 3, which reserves to this State the right of self-defense. For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas’s constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary."

According to The Texan, Governor Abbott said to Carlson about federalizing the Texas National Guard:

“That would be a bone-headed move on [Biden’s] part — a total disaster.”

“There’s been about 10 so far that have sent National Guard or other law enforcement. They have now joined together with us.”

“This is a fight for the future of America and they all know it, so I believe they will all be in on the effort.”
