Florida Sends 1,000 National Guard To Texas Border

As Texas Governor Greg Abbott continues to defend Texas from illegal immigrants, another governor is sending military support. Flordia Governor Ron DeSantis announced he was sending 1,000 members of the Florida National Guard to Texas. 

The Florida governor has sent National Guard support to Texas since 2021. 

DeSantis posted a NewsMax clip on Facebook and said:

"Florida has been assisting at the southern border since 2021, and we are sending more support from both the Florida State Guard & up to one battalion of Florida National Guard," 

"Their mission will be to assist Texas in erecting barriers at the border to stop the invasion of illegal aliens.”

“The goal is to help Texas fortify this border, help them strengthen the barricades, help them add barriers, help them add the wire that they need to so that we can stop this invasion once and for all. The states have to band together.”

Not everyone agrees with the move as Mimi News writer Fabiola Santiago wrote:

“Once again, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is spending taxpayer dollars and devoting state law enforcement resources to play a starring role at the Texas-Mexico border.” 

“He isn’t contributing solutions to the country’s immigration challenges. He’s exacerbating divisions that extend beyond Eagle Pass, a border town far from home — where DeSantis doesn’t belong and his armed forces aren’t needed.”

In a previous statement, Governor DeSantis said according to The Hill:

“States have every right to defend their sovereignty and we are pleased to increase our support to Texas as the Lone Star State works to stop the invasion across the border.” 

“Our reinforcements will help Texas to add additional barriers, including razor wire along the border. We don’t have a country if we don’t have a border.”
