President Joe Biden made his second official visit to the southern border. Last year he visited El Paso, Texas. This year he visited Brownsville which has been a popular hotspot this year.

Before his arrival, a White House official said according to Fox News:

"During his trip, the President will receive a briefing on border security operations and an operational briefing from CBP, ICE, and USCIS. Afterwards, the President will deliver remarks to emphasize the need for Congressional Republicans to stop putting politics ahead of our border security and pass the bipartisan border security agreement."

Biden campaign manager Julie Chávez Rodriguez said in a statement according to The Hill:

“The truth is, Donald Trump doesn’t want to secure the border. He prefers chaos and cruelty because he’s betting it helps him politically. Last time he was in office, kids were held in cages, families were ripped apart, and violent crime skyrocketed. It’s a bad bet — one that he will pay for at the ballot box this November.”

While in Brownsville, President Biden took a shot at his likely challenger in the November election. President Biden said according to The Hill:

“I understand my predecessor’s in Eagle Pass today. So here’s what I would say to Mr. Trump: Instead of playing politics with the issue, instead of telling members of Congress to block this legislation, join me, or I’ll join you in telling the Congress to pass this bipartisan border security bill. We can do it together.”

The president did mention he wants to improve the waiting period for migrants which can take up to 5 to 7 years.

According to X, President Biden said:

“Today, the process to get a decision on an asylum claim can take 5 to 7 years.
    That's too long.
With the new policies in our bipartisan border security deal and the addition of 4,300 more asylum officers, we would reduce that process to just six months.”

While President Biden was in Brownsville, Donald Trump was in Eagle Pass with Texas Governor Greg Abbott according to Yahoo.

Do you think President Biden will pass an executive order about handling the migrant crisis?
