Governor Abbott Blames Biden on 300 Illegal Immigrant Border Surge

On Thursday, about 300 illegal immigrants rushed through a gate and past Texas National Guards in El Paso, Texas. Videos and news coverage were the main topics of the day.

According to Fox News, a family was entering and then the immigrant rushed through the gate.

All the illegal immigrants were detained. Some may be charged for assaulting the National Guardsmen. The migrants will be processed and they also can claim asylum despite rushing the gate. The State of Texas can still charge the migrants who assaulted the soldiers.

Border Patrol said the illegal immigrants were from Mexico, Columbia, Ecuador, Guatemala, and Venezuela.

U.S. Border Patrol agent Orlando Marrero said according to KFOX:

"The migrants that we encountered here today at gate 36 will be taken to a processing center."

The migrants broke through the gate at 8:30 am on March 21.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection released the following statement according to Spectrum:

“There are consequences to crossing the border illegally, and CBP continues to enforce United States immigration laws. Individuals and families without a legal basis to remain in the U.S. are subject to removal, and are subject to a minimum five-year bar on reapplying for admission and potential criminal prosecution if they subsequently re-enter without authorization.

"As of 3 p.m. local time, all migrants from this group have been moved from the site. Additional personnel have been deployed to the scene, and the situation is under control. The U.S. Border Patrol continues to monitor the situation and has increased patrols in the area.”

Governor Abbott responded to the illegal immigrants entering El Paso and wrote on X:

About the surge of illegal immigrants in El Paso:

The TX National Guard & Dept. of Public Safety quickly regained control & are redoubling the razor wire barriers.

DPS is instructed to arrest every illegal immigrant involved for criminal trespass & destruction of property.

Governor Abbott’s office shared the following statement according to KFOX:

“The surge today in El Paso is the direct result of the unsustainable chaos President Biden has unleashed on the border. The Texas Military Department and the Texas Department of Public Safety quickly gained control of situation and are working to repair the damage.”

“These illegal immigrants committed crimes in Texas, and the Department of Public Safety is under instruction to arrest every illegal immigrant involved for committing criminal trespass and destruction of property.”
