Since Operation Lone Star began to stop illegal immigrants from crossing the Texas southern border, Governor Greg Abbott called for support from State governors as Title 42 ended according to this May 16, 2023 press release. His call was answered by Republican governors who have sent personnel and equipment to the border. One State, Louisiana, continues to support Abbott.

Louisiana sent military personnel to the Texas border earlier this year according to NOLA and Governor Jeff Landy plans to send more.

Governor Landry wrote in a statement according to Shreveport Times:

“As the Biden administration repeatedly ignores the crisis on our southern border, the Louisiana National Guard continues to step up and assist our neighbors in Texas as they work to protect our citizens and secure our country’s border.”.
"I am grateful to the Louisiana National Guard for their hard work defending and securing our nation’s border.”

The 150 soldiers of the National Guard will stay in Texas through November. Louisiana lawmakers allocated $3 million of the budget for Operation Lone Star. The government has $800,000 remaining which will be used to extend the stay of the National Guard soldiers.

The Louisiana Attorney General visited soldiers in Texas:

When Title 42 ended in May 2023, Governor Abbott called on State governors and wrote according to this press release:

“The flood of illegal border activity invited by the Biden Administration flows directly across the southern border into Texas communities, but this crisis does not stop in our state.”
“In the federal government’s absence, we, as Governors, must band together to combat President Biden’s ongoing border crisis and ensure the safety and security that all Americans deserve. The Emergency Management Assistance Compact empowers states to provide assistance to one another in times of disaster or emergency, both of which accurately describe the current border crisis. Join us in the mission to defend our national sovereignty and territorial integrity and send all available law enforcement personnel and resources to the Texas-Mexico border to serve alongside our thousands of Texas National Guard soldiers and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers.”

Other States sending support to the Texas border include Arkansas, Iowa, West Virginia, and others.

What do you think about the State’s sending support to the Texas border?
