With three wins from three, the Springboks have opened up an eight point gap over the chasing pack in the 2024 Rugby Championship, but had to rely on two late tries to secure victory over the All Blacks in Johannesburg last weekend.

A fourth successive victory over New Zealand would mark only the second time in the 103-year history of this fixture when that has been achieved.

In a show of strength, head coach Rassie Erasmus has made seven changes to the starting XV, with double Rugby World Cup-winners Willie le Roux (fullback) and Lukhanyo Am (utility back) returning. That makes a total of 19 RWC winners, including 13 players that beat the All Blacks in the final last October.

Thirteen All Blacks that tasted defeat that night are also included in Saturday's match day squad, including former captain Sam Cane who is just three caps away from a century of test appearances. Elsewhere, Mark Tele’a and Wallace Sititi have been drafted in to replace the injured Caleb Clarke and Ethan Blackadder.
