Hovde visits USEMCO on election tour

TOMAH (WKBT) -- The Republican candidate for Wisconsin's U.S. Senate seat visited Tomah on Friday afternoon.

Eric Hovde met with employees at the sanitary equipment manufacturer USEMCO in Tomah.

After a facility tour, Hovde said as much as he talks about how to get the country "back on track," he also wants to hear from voters on their top concerns.

"People are being hit so hard by inflation. The price of food, the price of health care, the price of fuel, the price of insurance. How do we get our economic picture better, because we're clobbering our middle class, working class, and elderly people," Hovde said.

He believes he can understand their concerns better than incumbent Senator Tammy Baldwin.

"I've spent my life in the real world, working with people like this. Senator Baldwin has spent her whole life in politics. I not only have had to buy myself health insurance, but thousands of employees health insurance. Senator Baldwin has never even had to buy herself health insurance," he said.

Hovde said the economy is a top priority, but he also emphasized closing the southern border and stopping the flow of synthetic opioids like fentanyl.
