Tomah Health donates to 'Caring Closet'

TOMAH, Wis. (WKBT) -- On Friday the Tomah Health Community Foundation made a $1,000 donation to support local foster families.

The foundation presented its contribution to The Caring Closet, a Tomah nonprofit organization that provides foster families with essential items like clothing, diapers, and school supplies.

Danielle Calhoun started the nonprofit back in 2020 after her experience as a foster mother revealed that many children arrived without the necessities.

"These children are our future and they're in our community, they're in our schools, they're our neighbors. And although we don't always know what's going on inside their homes, we need to be a support system for them outside of them," said Calhoun.

The Caring Closet is raising money in hopes of getting their own building.

If you would like to support, you can reach out to them on their Facebook page.
