Following the recent closure of East Johnson Family Restaurant, a new breakfast-and-taco spot intends to open in Tenney-Lapham by mid-August. El Rancho Breakfast and Tacos, owned by José Torres and his son, Gerardo Florencio-Reyes, will serve scratch-made pancakes, French toast and omelets in the mornings. Northeast Iowa Bridge Projects Held Up by High River Levels Move Forward
Held up by flooding for the past three weeks, plus high water levels prior to that, construction of a new bridge over the Mississippi River at Lansing is set to resume. Southeast Minnesota Home Damaged When Car Crashes Through Roof
La Crescent, MN (KROC-AM News) - It appears a medical condition may have contributed to a spectacular car crash in southeastern Minnesota Thursday morning. A spokesperson for the La Crescent Police Department says a car went off a road and down a steep hill before crashing into the roof of the home. The incident was reported around 10:30 AM in a residential neighborhood on the southern edge of the Houston County community along the Mississippi River.
Rattler bites rare but Winona hospital ready
WINONA, Minn. – Nobody in recent memory recalls any rattlesnake bite cases at the Winona hospital, but the pharmacy director, Jill Ender, says the emergency room is prepared. Antivenom serum can be flown from Mayo Clinic Rochester on short notice, she said. There usually is a six-hour window to treat a bite, Ender said. Because of the rarity of bites and a short expiration of the antivenom, the hospital doesn’t stock its own supply.
