Tonawanda, Kenmore pools to open for week amid high temperatures

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — With high temperatures being forecasted for next week, the outdoor pools in the Town of Tonawanda and the Village of Kenmore will be open for the week, Town of Tonawanda spokesperson Kevin Keenan said.

“With extremely high temperatures forecasted for this time of year, we have taken the unusual step of opening these pools early,” Town of Tonawanda Supervisor Joseph Emminger said. “They will be a refreshing option as people deal with temperatures in the 90s.”

“We took a week off of work this week and luck had it that it was going to be super hot,” Tonawanda residents Sherry and Dave Sciria, who were the first ones swimming in the pool, said. “Hats off to the officials that decided to open this, this is great. Well needed especially on a week like this.”

• Lincoln Pool (1200 Parker Boulevard): noon to 8 p.m. June 17 through 21
• Kenmore Pool (255 Mang Ave.) and Mang Pool (425 Mang Ave.): 4 to 8 p.m. June 19 through 21

Multiple cooling centers in the town will open this week. You can see those below:

• Town of Tonawanda Senior Center (291 Ensminger Rd.): 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday
• Kenmore Library (160 Delaware Rd.): 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday
• Kenilworth Library (318 Montrose Ave.): noon to 8 p.m. Monday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, noon 8 p.m. Friday
