DeSantis Praises the ‘Great Momentum’ of Republicans

Governor Ron DeSantis stated that he's excited by the "great momentum" that Republicans are experiencing, but he refused to comment on former President Donald Trump's official kickoff of his 2024 campaign.

Something is not quite right between these two top Republicans right now.

DeSantis is focusing on the Georgia election and his governance following the "historic win" over Charlie Crist.DeSantis doesn't seem willing to fall into Trump's trap. He even downplayed the former President's abrasive tone.

"We just finished this election. People just need to chill out a little bit on some of this stuff," DeSantis said.

"We have this Georgia runoff that is coming, which is very important for Republicans to win that Georgia runoff. I mean, I know around the country, Florida was kind of the biggest bright spot. It was not so bright in many other parts of the country. It was a substandard performance given the dynamics that are at play," DeSantis said.

Focusing on Florida

"It's been a long election. We've got the Georgia runoff. But for me, it's like, 'OK, what more do we need to do to continue to make Florida lead the way?'" DeSantis added.

On Tuesday night at Mar-a-Lago, Trump did not mention DeSantis or any other prospective Republican rival when he decided to launch his intention to run in the presidential election.

Trump made the decision weeks before the Georgia race between U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock and Republican challenger Herschel Walker will be decided.

In the meantime, recent surveys indicate that Trump would lose to DeSantis in a series of hypothetical 2024 Primary contests.

The red wave that wasn't... yet

Both Democrats and Republicans expected a Red Wave to envelop the country. It hasn't happened this time around, but that's not to say it won't happen eventually.

Conservatives are currently winning the media war and flooding social media with great momentum. It would be unwise to underestimate the movement because it didn't demolish Democrats.

Hopefully, the cooler heads will prevail as they did time around.
