You Won't Believe Why DeSantis is Being Sued Again

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is being sued for the 4th time over the migrant-relocation program.

The flights took place almost three months ago. And Governor DeSantis is facing yet another lawsuit over the relocation of migrants from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard.

His political stunt divided the nation and used struggling people for cheap political points.

The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and several immigration rights nonprofits filed a federal lawsuit in the Southern District of Florida on Thursday. Plaintiffs include the Apopka-based Hope Community Center and Miami-based Florida Immigrant Coalition, and Americans for Immigrant Justice.

    Allegations

The lawsuit alleged that DeSantis’ administration illegally usurped the federal government’s “sole role in regulating and enforcing immigration law as outlined in the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution.”

The plaintiffs also contended that Florida violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which states no state shall “deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.” The lawsuit said DeSantis did that “through its state-sponsored harassment of immigrants based on race, color, and national origin.”

The lawsuit also prayed that a federal judge would assume jurisdiction over the matter, declare the program unconstitutional “in its entirety,” and preclude it from continuing to operate.

“The Constitution is clear — the sole and exclusive power to regulate immigration policy is granted to the federal government, not the states,” said Paul Chávez, senior supervising attorney for the SPLC’s Immigrant Justice Project.

“The scheme by Gov. DeSantis and the State of Florida to use taxpayer funds for the ‘relocation’ of ‘unauthorized’ aliens is a blatant and unlawful attempt to harass immigrants at the state level.”

The migrant-relocation program gained criticism from Democrats and some Republicans. However, we can clearly see that the PR stunt worked well in favor of the reelected Florida governor.

you might want to send a copy of that to Abbott in Texas and then find somebody from the border state that can read it to him.
