Florida's subtropical climate has earned it the nickname "The Sunshine State."

It features long, moderate winters and extremely hot summers. Typically, summertime temperatures vary from 87°C to 92°F.

However, Florida can have a cold snap that causes temperatures to drop sharply. Although some areas of the Panhandle can also experience chilly weather, North Florida often has the state's lowest temperatures.

    Jasper

Jasper is a small Florida city with more than 4,000 people, and its typical low temperature is 55°F. Due to its mild climate and beautiful surroundings, it is well-liked for camping and horseback riding.

    Niceville

The annual low temperature of Niceville, which is in the Florida Panhandle, is also 55°F. Almost 17,000 people live in the city. The yearly Boggy Fest is held in October when temperatures are less brutal than in the height of summer.

    Crestview

Crestview was once known as the “Icebox of Florida” because its high altitude meant that it had the coldest winters in the state. It is the biggest of the three cities on the list, with about 25,000 residents. This Panhandle city has some distilleries and breweries, a zoo, and the Panhandle Opry, which holds live music and events.

    The coldest ever

In 1899, the state had its coldest temperature ever recorded when the Great Arctic Outbreak brought arctic winds from Canada into The Sunshine State. A -2°F temperature was noted. In 1993, although the temperature did not drop below 0°F, approximately 3 inches of snow was reported in cities all around the Florida Panhandle.

Florida is renowned for its hot temperature and protracted periods of sunshine. Low temperatures do, however, happen occasionally despite being uncommon. Although entire Florida is thought to enjoy warmer temperatures than most other parts of the US, Jasper, Niceville, and Crestview are the three coldest cities in the state.
