The new Republican sweetheart is dominating the news cycle.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has proven to be one of the most prominent Republican leaders in the country. While he is yet to confirm his 2024 intentions, DeSantis is believed to be a top presidential candidate.

The champion

DeSantis is doing something Donald Trump isn't. The Florida governor is winning.

"At the end of the day, I would just tell people to go check out the scoreboard," DeSantis said. "The fact of the matter is, it was the greatest Republican victory in the history of the state of Florida."

The governor gained recognition for upholding parental rights in children's education and for embodying conservatives' struggle for freedom against COVID-19 restrictions.

DeSantis also took Disney to assign its self-governing Reedy Creek Improvement District in an effort to “make sure that [Florida’s] able to impose the law and make sure we're collecting the taxes."

Disney executives criticized the governor's Parental Rights in Education bill, which opponents dubbed the "Don't Say Gay" measure, leading to the conflict between DeSantis and Disney.

In June, DeSantis laughed off the LGBT activists, saying, “I am not going to let them cancel me.”

DeSantis has also been outspoken in opposing the Left's demand for healthcare linked to gender change while defending people's right to medical autonomy.

Going after doctors and immigrants

In December, DeSantis petitioned the Supreme Court of Florida to create a grand jury to investigate wrongdoings in relation to the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Florida governor also became a fighter for border security and sent illegal immigrants to Democratic states.

DeSantis also showed he could put politics aside and cross partisan lines when Hurricane Ian destroyed the western Florida coast.

Many Republican voters are optimistic that DeSantis will become a national maverick and carry his need for speed all the way to the White House as a result of Florida's success and his leadership.
