The National Backlash Grows as Florida Fast-Tracks The "Permitless Carry" Bill

This week, Republicans in the state Legislature are edging closer to their objective of having a permitless carry measure on the governor's desk as quickly as possible.

The state Senate examined the permitless carry bill for the first time on Monday in the Criminal Justice Committee. If signed, Floridians could carry concealed weapons without a permit or special training, which is currently required to carry the firearm on you.

Republican party members refer to the modification as a Second Amendment right that does not need a "government permission slip."

A supermajority of Republicans in the Legislature allows the party to pass legislation at whim in both the upper and lower chambers.

Permitless carry will move to the House floor and be one step away from the Senate floor unless Republicans encounter a significant roadblock.

Both Sen. Minority Leader Lauren Book and House Minority Leader Rep. Fentrice Driskell promised that their members would resist this week in the best way they could. Numerous members have proposed revisions, many of which are unlikely to be enacted, and studies have shown that weakened conceal-carry laws in other states have increased violent crime.

Democrats may lack the electoral support necessary to stop the legislation, but they will have the support of national gun control activists. A rally will occur in the state capitol on March 22.

However, given how quickly Republicans are advancing, the governor may soon be able to sign the permitless carry bill.

The bill is one of the controversial and high-profile bills expected to reach DeSantis this year. DeSantis is spearheading a major conservative overhaul of Florida, trying to implement as many far-right objectives as possible while enjoying virtually no opposition.

Does Florida need permitless carry rights and more guns on the streets?

Some tell the liberal dipstick Toni that 25 other states already have permit-less carry and that the only ones alarmed are feckless leftists like her.
