Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has not formally declared his campaign, but he's already making all the preparations a politician considering a presidential run would make.

DeSantis recently spoke to law enforcement organizations in New York, Pennsylvania, and Illinois, among other places outside Florida. He is also planning another party fundraiser soon. His political action group is employing personnel with expertise working on national campaigns. His latest memoir, The Courage to Be Free, will soon be available.

And even Donald Trump seems to see DeSantis as his biggest threat in the GOP primaries.

    What is DeSantis waiting for?

DeSantis has every motive to run for president, according to Florida-based conservative commentator Myra Adams. It's a win-win game for DeSantis. He either wins and receives the nomination or loses and is well-placed to run again in 2028.

Given he was recently sworn in to a second four-year term as governor, he must wait until after the Florida legislative session concludes, which might happen as late as May. Florida leadership is already tailoring a legal way for DeSantis to run in 2024.

The governor recently signed a law restricting the capacity of Disney, which runs a theme park in central Florida, to manage the local government and infrastructure services around its property.

DeSantis and the California-based Hollywood mogul have sparred over his conservative educational policies, which include a rule limiting how instructors can address Gay issues in public schools. The conflict garnered widespread media attention.

He condemned large companies who don't support GOP, charged federal bureaucrats with sabotaging conservative ideals, and defended what some have criticized as a combative political style.

The DeSantis biography is an example of the careful writing style common among politicians with grandiose aspirations who don't want their writing to come back to haunt them.
