Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is not ready to give up just yet. His latest move will shock you.

In an ongoing battle with Disney, DeSantis has requested a state investigation into the company's alleged underhanded tactics to maintain control over the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District (CFTOD).

The Florida Governor is effectively trying to launch a criminal investigation into Disney.

Is DeSantis fuming over Disney's public meetings?

DeSantis accuses Disney of colluding with Reedy Creek board members to undermine the new board's authority, stating in a letter to Florida's Chief Inspector General Melinda Miguel that the company's actions "nullify the recently passed legislation, undercut Florida's legislative process, and defy the will of Floridians."

Disney states that “all agreements signed between Disney and the district were appropriate and were discussed and approved in the open, noticed public forums in compliance with Florida’s Government in the Sunshine law.”

    "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet"

Disney previously held decision-making authority over the theme park grounds through the Reedy Creek Improvement District. The governor dissolved the district in February, replacing it with the CFTOD after Disney opposed the controversial "Don't Say Gay" law.

Despite the setbacks, DeSantis remains undeterred. His spokesperson, Jeremy Redfern, warns that Disney's efforts to "keep its special corporate benefits and dodge Florida law" will not be tolerated.

In a bold statement, Redfern quotes the governor, saying, "You ain't seen nothing yet."

Trying to Squash Direct Investment in Florida's Future

As Disney faces potential state investigation and business turbulence, CEO Bob Iger remains defiant, accusing DeSantis of being "anti-business and anti-Florida" at the company's annual shareholder meeting.

Disney is the largest taxpayer in Florida and employs around 75,000 workers. Iger revealed that the company plans to invest $17 billion in Disney World over the next decade, generating an additional 13,000 jobs.

Iger further accused DeSantis of retaliation against the company, stating, "A company has a right to freedom of speech just like an individual does." He emphasized that diversity is a top priority for Disney and that the company aims to create content promoting "greater understanding, greater acceptance."
