Superintendent Faces Shocking Removal for Daring to Criticize DeSantis

A school superintendent may lose his teaching license for voicing his opinion on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis

Florida authorities accuse the teacher of breaking laws, disobeying DeSantis orders, and letting his "personal political views" affect his leadership.

DeSantis might be able to fire Leon County Superintendent Rocky Hanna from his elected position if the state Department of Education exercises such a revocation. He may also take his teaching license, burying and rendering Mr. Hana unemployable and humiliated.

Ron's Shocking Track Record

Ron DeSantis already has a track record of clamping down on his critics. He got rid of a Democratic prosecutor in the Tampa Bay region last year who disagreed with his views on abortion.

Disney also filed a lawsuit against DeSantis this week, alleging that he did so as retaliation for criticizing the governor's so-called "Don't Say Gay" law, which at the time forbade mention of sexual orientation and gender in early grades but has since been expanded. Disney is now counting on the rule of law to keep running its business in Florida.

Hanna has vocally opposed that law, once disobeyed the governor's directive that prevented any need for kids to wear masks during the COVID-19 pandemic, and recently denounced a DeSantis-supported plan that will pay for students to attend private school.

The Leon County district serves around 30,000 students and covers Tallahassee, the state capital.

He claimed that a single complaint from the head of the local chapter of Moms for Liberty, a conservative educational organization, asking for his dismissal sparked the probe.

Her letter was inscribed with "Let's Go, Brandon," a code used by conservatives to replace a crude chant directed at President Joe Biden. This chant has become the symbol of alt-right aggression ever since Biden took office.
