Thousands of Floridians Stand to Lose Health Insurance. What Does It Mean for You?

A quarter of a million Floridians have just lost their Medicaid health insurance coverage.

And this is only the beginning of a wider healthcare cleanup in Florida.

More Medicaid recipients are about to lose their insurance in the upcoming months, with many—possibly even all—becoming completely uninsured.

    Ron DeSantis Vs. Health Insurance

Health insurance is a significant part of life in the Sunshine State. Florida has been one of the top destinations for retirees to settle, who, by default, may need more health care.

Because Ron DeSantis and his administration's policy choices are a major factor in the coverage losses, it should also be a big concern elsewhere. These choices reveal a lot about his priorities, principles, and potential style of administration.

The Republican governor blasted the "malignant ideology" of the left and "the woke mob" and vowed to make the rest of America more like his "free state of Florida."

These are the topics DeSantis wants to discuss and maybe the ones most significant to Republican primary voters. However, another story in the news merits some attention.

In just a few weeks of analyzing records, according to the state's official data, Florida has terminated coverage for nearly 250,000 citizens.

The healthcare research group KFF released a study last week comparing figures from nine states that have started their review processes in earnest. The biggest number of revoked insurances occurred in Florida.

Healthcare activists in Florida were extremely concerned about this possibility and almost begged the state to take its time with redeterminations and make sure the procedure was complete.

Although DeSantis has shown little interest in changing the process, Florida authorities have defended it as being appropriately cautious. This is likely, not surprising, considering his past healthcare policy positions.

Seemingly, many will eventually have no insurance at all.

What do you think about Republicans clamping down on Health insurance?

Then they should get jobs that offer healthcare. I’m tired of my tax dollars supporting freeloaders in one way or another.
