California Governor Stuns Florida by Attacking DeSantis Directly

California Governor Gavin Newsom is berating Ron DeSantis, his Florida counterpart and a potential Republican presidential candidate.

In a tweet, Newsom called DeSantis a "small, pathetic man," saying that the Florida governor had planned the flights.

This came after two flights carrying undocumented migrants and asylum seekers landed in his state.

Is DeSantis kidnapping people?

Newsom's post also contained a link to the definition of abduction in the California Penal Code, commenting, "Kidnapping charges?"

The tweet was sent just before California's Attorney General Rob Bonta revealed that a second plane carrying 20 migrants had touched down in Sacramento, the state's capital.

He said that the flight carrying South American migrants and asylum seekers from Texas to California was organized by Florida officials.

Bonta's spokesperson, Tara Gallegos, said that Florida's contracted company appears to have carried the second set of migrants.

According to Gallegos, the documents held by the migrants on Friday's flight indicated that Vertol also transported them as part of a program administered by Florida's Division of Emergency Management. Many of the migrants were Colombians and Venezuelans.

Eddie Carmona, the campaign director of the PICO California, said that the 16 new arrivals had been processed by US immigration officials in Texas and provided court dates for their asylum cases.

Then "personnel representing a private contractor" approached them, promising to give them work and assist them in getting to their destination.

The claim was made as numerous Republican governors continued to threaten to deport migrants to areas in the north that are governed by Democrats, especially after the public health order Title 42 expired.

That order permitted border officials to deport some asylum applicants without reviewing their claims.
