Florida Governor Ron DeSantis speaks more freely than ever about his Catholic faith as he seeks the presidency.

It's a change from a political figure who, until recently, kept his church attendance a secret but later acknowledged taking his family to numerous churches in the Tallahassee area for mass.

DeSantis was more fort about his Catholicism.

Though some have criticized DeSantis's spiritual insights saying, "I think it's convenient timing, to be honest," former U.S. Rep. David Jolly said it demonstrates the crucial role that religious voters may play in the Presidential Election.

DeSantis plans to run against another Catholic President, Joe Biden, the following year.

After President John Kennedy in 1960, Biden is only the second Catholic to hold the office of President. The third will be DeSantis if he gets the chance.

He has a very different outlook on government, though. As he seeks the Republican nomination for PresidentPresidentPresident, DeSantis has strongly emphasized topics related to the cultural war.

According to Pew Research, over a third of voters say they are evangelicals and 56% of voters who identify as evangelicals vote Republican.

David Vasquez, the press secretary for Never Back Down, stated that DeSantis' allies are sure the governor will be successful with them.

"Evangelicals are uniting behind Ron DeSantis because they know the Governor's policies and family values align with their own beliefs," Vasquez said.

DeSantis is ready to claim that he supports the things that evangelicals believe in. He approved a bill that forbade abortions in Florida after six weeks.

DeSantis' primary opponent for the nomination, former President Donald Trump, picked the justices of the Supreme Court who overturned Roe v. Wade and made that statute feasible. Trump, however, has attacked Florida's bill as being excessive.
