Florida Governor Ron DeSantis promises to abolish four government agencies if he becomes the president of the United States.

He plans to end some o the key government institutions, including:

    • Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
    • Department of Energy
    • Department of Commerce
    • Department of Education

DeSantis said he would use those agencies to oppose the woke ideology and the leftism he sees creeping into all institutions of American life. Taxes, energy, commerce, and education seem to be the pillars of the woke movement.

    The very ambitious plan

Federal agencies have long been targeted for elimination by presidential candidates, often to no avail because the decision needs congressional support.

Former Texas Governor Rick Perry forgot to mention one of the agencies he intended to abolish during a 2011 debate, one of the most embarrassing moments in a presidential campaign. Former President Donald Trump later appointed him the Department of Energy's director.

DeSantis made the recommendations even though he is still well behind Trump in the polls for the GOP presidential nomination.

To energize the GOP's conservative base, the Florida governor strongly opposes Trump and MAGA world.

    Ethics, schmetics

Officials are investigating DeSantis over misuse of Texas's public resources. His campaign shared a photo of him before a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) helicopter as he went to the Texas-Mexico border.

Although it's unclear who paid for the initiative, Texas ethics laws forbid using public funds for political campaigns. As a presidential contender, DeSantis is also expected to pay "fair market value" for non-commercial flights.

According to DeSantis' office, he visited in both a campaign and official capacity. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, DeSantis went on the trip to see how Florida's government used equipment to control migration.

What do you think about DeSantis's ambitious plan to dissolve key government agencies?
