Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is now celebrating the anger of LGBTQ+ citizens toward his "homophobic and transphobic" policies.

Taking this a step further, DeSantis slams everyone who would dare to protect sexual minorities from hate crimes, including former president Donald Trump.

    LGBTQ+ Attacks

Donald Trump now vows to defend LGBTQ+ citizens from hate crimes and terrorist assaults.

Although Trump's remarks at the time aroused suspicion, which was later verified by anti-trans measures in office, the context in which he made them was evident.

The bloodiest crime against LGBTQ+ Americans to date occurred at Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, where a mass shooter killed 49 people. The shooter's declaration of allegiance to ISIS fueled claims that the mass murder was a terrorist attack and a hate crime.

DeSantis acknowledged the anniversary of the massacre in June by calling it a "horrific act of terrorism against the LGBTQ and Hispanic communities." It comes across as a political necessity to say these things regardless of sincerity.

    Targeting LGBTQ+ Citizens

However, DeSantis' most recent campaign move sought to draw attention to several other political goals. This includes approving measures that were seen as being directed against Florida's queer and transgender communities.

Whether DeSantis's team created or shared the advertisement must be clarified.

The advertisement announces the cancellation of a "Drag and Donuts" event at an Orlando high school, using press headlines that refer to the legislation as the "most extreme slate of anti-trans laws in modern history."

The ad includes conservative trans entrepreneur Caitlyn Jenner and an interview with Donald Trump in which he promises to let her use any restroom at Trump Tower.

Nevertheless, about half of the advertisement portrays Trump as being too accommodating, while DeSantis enjoys being labeled as anti-LGBTQ+.

What do you think about DeSantis's sharp attack on LGBTQ+ citizens?
