"Chris Christie Slams Trump and DeSantis: The 'Teenage Food Fight

Former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is mocking the fight between Trump and DeSantis.

Chris Christie describes the top Republican conflict as a "teenage food fight."

He said it in response to a "homophobic" video the DeSantis campaign had released criticizing former president Donald Trump for his prior support of the LGBTQ+ community. It depicts Florida Governor Ron DeSantis praising him for signing "the most extreme slate of anti-trans laws in modern history" and a "draconian anti-trans bathroom bill."

DeSantis's campaign is portraying Trump as an LGBTQ+ hero.

DeSantis has been denounced by activists for trans and homosexual rights and praised by his extremist supporters for his attacks on minorities in his own state.

Christie, who stated the candidates must concentrate on "real issues" rather than each other, was unimpressed by the video and Trump's criticism of DeSantis using "juvenile" nicknames like Ron Sanctimonious and Meatball Ron.

"It's a teenage food fight between Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump, and I don't think that's what leaders should be doing," Christie said.

Politicians other than Christie have also shared opinions on the latest DeSantis video.

According to Caitlyn Jenner, a well-known trans activist and Trump supporter, DeSantis had hit "a new low" with the video.

"He's so desperate he'll do anything to get ahead. That's been the theme of his campaign," Jenner said.

Director of rapid response for DeSantis, Christina Pushaw, disputed the campaign was anti-gay for, among other things, opposing Pride month.

"We wouldn't support a month to celebrate straight people for sexual orientation, either ... It's unnecessary, divisive, pandering," Pushaw said.

DeSantis seems to be farming attention from LGBTQ+ outrage and converting it into political clout. His supporters seem to respond well to this strategy.
