As Florida Governor Ron DeSantis doubles down on conservative policies to bolster his supporter base, he's also pulling another ace out of his sleeve.

The Sunshine State has enjoyed an economic boom over the last four years under DeSantis.

His decision to open the state to commercial activity amid the coronavirus pandemic marked a significant turning point in his career. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Florida's COVID-19 death rates placed it in the top third of all states.

But the financial advantages were obvious—money over lives.

The US regained its pre-pandemic employment levels in February 2022, the month DeSantis entered office. On the other hand, Florida reached the same standard nine months earlier, in June 2021.

For most of DeSantis' administration, Florida's unemployment rate has likewise been lower than the national average.

Another important metric, the state's gross domestic product, representing all economic activity, has increased under DeSantis.

GDP growth in Florida has outpaced national growth when adjusted for inflation. In actuality, Florida has been pulling away from the country over time.

DeSantis frequently highlights the influx of people from other states entering Florida as a huge benefit for the state.

Florida State University economist Randall Holcombe said, "Keeping businesses open and allowing people to work was certainly helpful.'

Florida's recent development spurt has been largely attributed to the state's affordable housing market. Housing costs in Florida are pretty similar to the national average. This excludes insurance fees, which are increasing, particularly in light of climate threats and hurricane damage.

Economists conclude that DeSantis' decision to reopen the economy of Florida early was a practical move.

DeSantis is surfing on the economic wave and trying to level up his career to become the President of the United States.

What do you think about Florida's booming economy?

That money over lives line is total BULLSHIT Florida is also in the top 3 population wise along with the other 2 states that make the top 3 California and New York. So strict lockdowns didn’t help NY or CA what was the point?

In February 2020, it was a gamble at containing the COVID Pandemic. But within months, we knew better: COVID was too contagious to contain, globally unstoppable & quickly became ENDEMIC. We needed to learn to live with it.Yet, most Govts stayed the course: Calling it Pandemic for years. Using excuse of "protecting us" to accumulate power & control. And worse yet, not protecting us nor giving us the power back! On the other hand, Governor DeSantis allowed individual liberty & responsibility. If you had health factors, isolate. If you didn't, live. If young, go to school & play. DeSantis moved Florida forward, opening economy & schools. Small businesses stayed afloat. Kids grew, learned & played. Arizona was good, too. My sister moved her family there & enjoyed open schools, churches, etc. Conversely, Cali kids became paranoid, depressed & suicidal.
