Ron DeSantis Losing Ground? Here's Why That's a Lie

If we describe the DeSantis campaign in a punchy tagline, it would say something like "Faltering Polls, Skyrocketing Funds!"

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has drawn criticism for his early blunders, including the glitch-filled debut of Twitter Spaces and remarks that minimized the war in Ukraine. His dispute with Disney is uncovering his fragile gubernatorial authority in Florida.

    Follow the money

DeSantis's performance is plunging, and the novelty is wearing off.

The governor and his supporters are trying to change the perception of a campaign that many believe is falling behind Trump's.

However, DeSantis and his team argue that failure predictions are greatly exaggerated and are based on an incorrect understanding of their long-term plan.

They emphasize a variety of things as they work to change people's impressions, including the fact that the campaign is still in its early stages, DeSantis is doing well financially, and he has remained popular despite being subjected to a barrage of attacks from Team Trump.

They all come together to support their central claim that DeSantis is the only Republican capable of defeating former President Donald Trump and the best candidate to defeat President Joe Biden in the general election.

But DeSantis still needs to defeat Trump, not simply have Republican voters view him favorably overall.

    No honor among politicians

Trump says DeSantis' decision to oppose him shows disloyalty. Remember, DeSantis was pretending to be the most loyal of Trump's supporters. Many knew DeSantis as Mini Trump before he switched sides.

DeSantis, at least, appears certain that he has enough finances to fight Trump for the nomination for a long time.

His campaign claims that it raised $20 million between the time he confirmed his candidacy in late May and the end of June. Never Back Down reports that since its founding in March, it has raised $130 million.

Is DeSantis winning or losing? What do you think?
