DeSantis' Employee Shares a Shocking Video, Gets the Boot

An employee of Ron DeSantis' presidential campaign was fired after posting a video of the Florida governor superimposed with Nazi symbols on social media.

Nate Hochman, a speechwriter for the DeSantis campaign who had previously worked as a staff writer at the conservative magazine National Review, came under fire after sharing numerous videos from an unidentified pro-DeSantis Twitter account.

Questionable staff

In one of the videos, DeSantis could be seen in the middle of a Sonnenrad, a symbol of the black sun used by Nazis and neo-Nazis.

The video was removed after that, but who originally developed the video remains a mystery.

A campaign official has confirmed Hochman's departure from the DeSantis campaign.

An inquiry for comment from Hochman has yet to receive a prompt response.

The firing spree

Hochman is one of the several dozen employees recently let go by the DeSantis campaign.

About 40 campaign employees have been let go as the DeSantis campaign looks to resurrect its lackluster White House effort.

DeSantis had been seen as the Republican most prepared to take on Trump for the party's presidential candidacy earlier this year.

The FiveThirtyEight average of national surveys shows that the Florida governor is currently in a distant second place, more than 30 points behind Trump.

In addition, after records with the Federal Election Commission revealed that he had spent almost $8 million in the first five weeks of campaigning, DeSantis has come under increased scrutiny from his major donors, and multiple inquiries about his campaign's finances arose.

DeSantis campaign spokesperson confirmed with the media that 38 people had been fired the recent weeks. The campaign is struggling to stay relevant and has been losing the fight with Donald Trump. Donors seem to be jumping ship and looking for an alternative.
