Are Republicans tired of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis?

DeSantis is fighting several pushbacks in Florida as his presidential campaign stumbles nationwide.

Analysts and political rivals are observing a decline in his support and evidence of Republicans turning away from his extreme views.

There were hints at a change in position. Toward the close of the recently concluded legislative session in DeSantis' home state, many Republican state legislators disobeyed the governor.

They voted against new laws banning abortions or escalating his fight with Disney.

However, observers claim that since DeSantis' bungled presidential campaign launch in May and subsequent gaffes on the campaign trail, the power of the opposition has grown.

According to Florida Atlantic University polling, DeSantis' popularity among Floridians as governor is keeping steady.

However, the margin from his lopsided reelection in November was 54%-41%.

"What we're seeing with Florida voters is that DeSantis is still above water, but he's starting to lose his edge," said Fentrice Driskell, Democratic leader of the house minority in Tallahassee.

Former Florida US Congressman for the party and political strategist David Jolly claimed to have spoken to exhausted party members.

"I would use the term fatigue more than a drop in his support because, at least from the state legislative standpoint, it remains highly gerrymandered," said Jolly.

Republicans in Florida have largely refrained from criticizing DeSantis directly.

At an awkward press appearance last month, three state representatives who supported DeSantis' stringent new immigration laws, which among other restrictions, make it illegal to transport undocumented immigrants, tried to separate themselves without mentioning him by name.

Two who have come out of hiding are supporters of DeSantis' rival for the GOP nomination, former President Donald Trump.

Last month, former Florida Republican Party leader and state senator Joe Gruters assailed the governor, alleging that he had blocked financing for projects in his area in revenge for his support of Trump.
