Prosecuting the Powerful: Exiled Prosecutor Reveals DeSantis' Alleged Plot to Remove Her!

An elected Democratic prosecutor whose expulsion Ron DeSantis boasted about at the first Republican presidential debate said she was removed by the hard-right Florida governor and his friends because she was "prosecuting their cops."

According to Monique Worrell, law enforcement agencies in central Florida were "all working against" her because she was prosecuting their cops, "the ones who used to do things and get away with them".

According to Worrell, the decision to terminate her was preceded by an "ambush" by the governor's law enforcement allies, which included a recording of the Orlando County Sheriff complaining about the inability to imprison a known gang member who was found with a pistol.

Worrell added that her team discovered "all sorts of illegal activity" at her termination, which DeSantis attributed to "neglect of duty and incompetence" while looking into the Osceola County Sheriff.

Worrell referred to DeSantis as a "weak dictator" who was trying to set up a "smokescreen for [a] failing and disastrous presidential campaign."

DeSantis has consistently trailed former President Donald Trump in national and important state polls of the Republican primary.

Most observers believe DeSantis' campaign is stuttering.

In Florida, DeSantis has ousted two elected Democratic prosecutors: Worrell earlier this month and Andrew Warren of Hillsborough County in August 2022.

An abortion prohibition signed by the governor, according to Warren, will not be enforced.

Even though a judge determined DeSantis to be at fault, the prosecutor tried to get his job back but has so far been unsuccessful.

In addition to announcing that she would soon determine whether to file a lawsuit to obtain her position back, Worrell also declared her intention to compete for re-election the following year, where she would probably face off against DeSantis's chosen successor.

What are your thoughts on the alleged political motivations behind the ousting of elected prosecutors?
