Election 2024: Trump Vows Retribution on Rivals Amidst His Own Legal Woes

    2023-08-31

Former President Donald Trump promises to imprison his political adversaries if he wins the election again.

Trump has incited the "lock her up" chant against his rivals, but he still faces a severe risk of being imprisoned himself.

He is charged with 91 crimes under four indictments, including election subversion, classified material retention, and hush money payment to an adult film star. He claims to be a victim of political persecution and denies any involvement. Trials will be held next year.

Trump could have spent up to 641 years in prison, based on the calculation of Politico.

Forbes increased the total to more than 717 years after adding 13 racketeering and conspiracy charges in Georgia. Trump is 77 years old.

However, both websites pointed out that the former president was not expected to incur the harshest penalties even if found guilty.

Trump's convictions would not prevent him from running for president or winning the election.

Trump overwhelmingly leads national and crucial state polls for the Republican presidential candidacy.

Attempts to gather information about rivals, including President Joe Biden, relating to Ukrainian politics and business were the subject of Trump's first impeachment.

Currently, Biden is under threat of being impeached in Congress by Trump's Republican supporters over unproven allegations involving his living son, Hunter.

Biden, according to Trump, was behind the charges brought against him.

Trump likewise asserted, "the woman that I never met, that they accused me of rape, that's being run by a Democrat, a Democrat operative, and paid for by the Democrat [sic] party."

That was in response to civil lawsuits filed by writer E Jean Carroll, who alleges that Trump sexually abused her in New York in the 1990s.

Trump was found guilty for sexual abuse and defamation.

In addition to facing inquiries into his financial dealings, Trump called his opponents, including Democrats, "sick people...evil people."

The former president, who was twice impeached, four times indicted, and 91 times accused, added that he "always had such great respect for the office of the president and the presidency."

Could Trump's 'lock her up' chant turn into a self-fulfilling prophecy?
