Resorts in Southern Thailand, particularly near Phuket, are known for their unforgettable beaches, impossibly clear water, and sophistication. Even so, with nearly 700K competitors around the globe, attracting a loyal clientele is inevitably difficult. It begins with cultivating a website and social media presence that are so alluring that weary executives in Boston, London, and elsewhere can’t help but visit. This was the challenge faced by Sri Panwa, a luxury resort that ticked all the right boxes - pool villas, views of the ocean and sunsets, and gourmet dining - but needed assistance magnifying its online reach. In 2023, Sri Panwa reached out to Social Media Manager/Producer Stacey Manoharan, who had elevated brands that included Soneva Jani and Soneva Fushi in the Maldives as well as Hong Kong-based Lane Eight. Over three days, Stacey, who also manages the social media channels of high-profile celebrities and influencers, would photograph and video Sri Panwa, producing content that enhanced the resort’s visibility, including a TikTok video that garnered 37,000 views.

Stacey says that before arriving at Sri Panwa, she did a lot of preliminary research, including evaluating its website and social media channels. She could immediately see the resort’s uniqueness, and she developed a comprehensive plan for bringing out its beauty for potential guests. Her overall goal was to honor the requests of Sri Panwa, including that she create and share captivating posts on Instagram and TikTok, stories, live sessions, and a post-stay content package designed to maintain audience interest and engagement over time.

To immerse her in its luxurious environment, Sri Panwa provided Stacey with a two-night complimentary stay in the Penthouse Oceanview, with an option for additional nights at a special rate. She says that once she checked in, she took some time to really get a sense of the property’s overall vibe and atmosphere. “This is always crucial when I work because every resort is different,” Stacey explains. “As I walked around the property, I observed staff members and guests and explored the pools, restaurants, and other areas. I could immediately see that Sri Panwa was all about elegance, service, and relaxation - all in the midst of paradise. These were qualities that I wanted to capture in my digital content so that I could elevate the resort’s online space.”

Over the next few days, Stacey shot content tailored to highlight the distinctiveness of notable locations across the property, including Tu, a rooftop bar with a magnificent view of the Andaman Sea; The Habita, whose penthouses and suites each have an infinity swimming pool; Yaya, a convention hall capable of hosting 400 people; and a lovely two-bedroom suite.

“It was a very diverse schedule, designed to maximize Sri Panwa’s appeal to the broadest audience,” says Stacey. “With each location, I had to flip my perspective and step into the mind of the guest so that I could create content that would resonate with them. It was also important that I remember where this content would be posted - online. The Internet is a very different medium from marketing materials such as brochures. As a Social Media Manager/Producer, I had to keep these differences in mind as I shot photos and videos so that it would look incredible online.”

During her stay, Stacey produced and published two Instagram feed posts, including one carousel post and one reel video, as well as five daily stories. To maximize the appeal of the content, she employed trending audios and developed a new type of preset for editing, which was specifically designed to enhance the travel island vibe of the visuals. This approach ensured the content resonated more effectively with the target audience, providing them with an immersive viewing experience. Once her visit was finished, Stacey crafted comprehensive reviews and feature articles that would help Sri Panwa to continue to engage the audience. The resort appreciated in particular her user-generated content (UGC) package, which was specifically tailored to capture and convey the elegance and appeal of the property. Tens of thousands of tropical vacation-lovers viewed Stacey’s posts, driving traffic to the hotel’s website and enhancing the visibility of the brand.

“The Internet will always be pivotal to the ability of any resort like Sri Panwa to reach potential guests in other countries,” says Stacey. “I am very happy I was able to leverage my understanding of digital content creation to help Sri Panwa break through the noise of thousands of resorts clamoring for attention. It is now standing on top of its own mountain, so to speak, and has the freedom to develop deeper relationships with guests and cement its leadership in Thailand’s tourism industry.” According to Social Media Manager/Producer Stacey Manoharan.
