40 Acres World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and among the highly anticipated films to watch by R.T. Thorne and co-writer Glenn Taylor and cinematography by Jeremy Benning.

Jaeda LeBlanc portrays Danis in 40 Acres, a 14-year-old Black and Indigenous girl living in a dystopian future marked by food shortages, distrust, and a survival-focused mindset. The narrative unfolds on a family farm that serves as both a home and a protective stronghold. It examines essential themes such as race, family, and heritage in a harsh world where survival is paramount. Danielle Deadwyler plays Hailey, Danis' mother and a Black military veteran, while Michael Greyeyes plays her father, Galen, an Indigenous man who knows how to live naturally. Together, they have raised Danis and her siblings in a secluded environment, training them to navigate a reality where outsiders pose a constant danger, and trust is a rare commodity.

Danis' life centers on the family's ancestral farm, where she juggles caring for failing crops with rigorous combat training. From an early age, she has been trained to adopt a "shoot first, don't ask questions" approach, leaving her with both physical and emotional scars that speak to her challenging upbringing. The prominent scar on her arm serves as a reminder of her past trauma. Although she is intense and perceptive, her world is shaken when her brother brings home a mysterious young woman, claiming she is the niece of a trusted family friend. The arrival of this newcomer creates tension within the family, forcing them to confront the fears and isolation they have relied on for survival.

Jaeda LeBlanc skillfully brings Danis to life, showcasing a young woman shaped by a harsh upbringing. She navigates the problematic balance between loyalty to her family and a growing awareness of the broader world. Jaeda effectively conveys the strength and sensitivity of a girl compelled to challenge the strict survival mentality that has defined her existence.

Hailing from Ontario, Canada, Jaeda LeBlanc is an accomplished actress, producer, and singer, recognized for her roles in Gen V, Mommy's Little Princess, and Big Top Academy. Despite her youth, she has collaborated with noted figures in entertainment like Kathy Bates, Kit Harington, Xavier Dolan, and Nelson Cragg. Jaeda has a strong passion for the arts, singing, writing, and playing guitar, with acting being her foremost interest.

Though her on-screen characters are often bold and assertive, Jaeda describes herself as friendly with a sense of humor. She enjoys cooking, playing board games, and spending quality time with her family and friends on weekends. Her talent is evident in 40 Acres, where she poignantly depicts Danis' struggle between survival instincts because of a fungal pandemic 14 years earlier and a desire to socialize and leave peacefully to grow the crops on her family farm like her father (Michael Greyeyes) and mother (Daniel Deadwyler) thought her.

With Deadwyler portraying the formidable Hailey and Greyeyes as the protective yet stern Galen, 40 Acres explores themes of trust, loyalty, and survival. In full action mode, Jaeda's performance anchors the film alongside her co-stars—Raine (played by Leenah Robinson), Dawn (portrayed by Milcania Diaz-Rojas), and Emanuel (beautifully embodied by Kataem O’Connor)—as they battle a ruthless band of cannibals. The story vividly illustrates a young girl's journey through a dangerous world governed by fear and suspicion.
