PHOENIX (AZFamily) — The 2024 election cycle is expected to produce the largest wave of political texts in history, and many Arizona voters aren’t happy about it. Every morning, Heath Hornback looks at his phone and sees another political text message from a candidate who wants his vote or a contribution.
AZ Supreme Court: school districts can't recoup desegregation taxes
PHOENIX -- School districts that spend money on court-ordered desegregation programs are not entitled to get reimbursed by the state, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled Monday. The justices said state lawmakers did nothing wrong in 2018 when they said such costs were the sole responsibility of district residents and not of taxpayers across the state.

Arizona misses out on major EPA funding for climate programs
The Environmental Protection Agency on Monday awarded $4.3 billion to dozens of climate programs across the country. But none of that money is headed to Arizona. The historic investment in greenhouse gas reduction programs was outlined in the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. States, local governments and tribes were invited to apply this spring for Climate Pollution Reduction Grants from the EPA to address climate change in their communities. Most states and many major cities in the U.S. submitted applications. The EPA awarded 25 grants.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - This November, just a handful of voters could decide who becomes America's next president, and Arizona, as a swing state, might be the state that decides it all. An illustration of Arizona's current status as a swing state may be the Coronado precinct in Scottsdale. We looked...
2024 Arizona football season countdown: 38 days to kickoff
A LOOK BACK — NO. 38 KELVIN EAFON. With it being the 38th day until kickoff between the Lobos and Wildcats, the best player to wear No. 38 for Arizona is running back Kelvin Eafon, who played with the Wildcats from 1996-98 after originally attending the school under a basketball scholarship. He was Arizona’s offensive captain during its 12-1 season in 1998. “If we could all play as hard and as tough as Kelvin Eafon, we would win every game we played,” Tomey said in a 1997 Seattle Times article. In the 1996 Territorial Cup game in which the Rose Bowl-bound Sun Devils routed the Wildcats 56-14 at Arizona Stadium, ASU offensive linemen Glen Gable broke defensive lineman Daniel Greer’s ankle with an illegal blind-sided clip during a return. That sparked Eafon, who noticed the play and witnessed Tomey yelling at Gable, to sprint off the bench to knock down Gable. Eafon and Gable were ejected. The retaliation showed how much Eafon revered his teammates. Eafon is now a radio personality and youth basketball coach. He is an analyst for Arizona pre-game and post-game shows involving football and men’s basketball on KCUB 1290-AM and runs his own basketball club called Desert Storm.
