    Topekan arrested after false bomb threat at Stormont Vail Events Center

    TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – A Topeka woman is in jail after a false bomb threat was made at Stormont Vail Events Center.

    Just before 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday, July 2, the Shawnee County Emergency Communications Center received a call about a bomb threat at Southwest Topeka Boulevard and Southwest 19th Street, Stormont Vail Events Center, according to a news release from the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO).

    According to the sheriff’s office, multiple officers arrived to the scene and evacuated the building. A SCSO K-9 unit swept the property and did not discover any explosive devices. While investigating, it was discovered that an individual told people that she put a bomb inside the arena.

    A 28-year-old Topeka woman was found nearby and arrested. She was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on a charge of aggravated criminal threat. An investigation is still underway.
