    House fire in east Topeka causes $20,000 in damage

    TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – A house fire in Topeka caused an estimated $24,000 in damage on Monday morning.

    At 1:15 a.m. on July 15, the Topeka Fire Department (TFD) responded to the 600 block of SE 12th St. for reports of a house fire. When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from a single-story home.

    The fire was contained in the home and was extinguished. Nobody was found inside the home, according to the TFD.

    A TFD investigation unit was unable to determine the cause. Of the damage, $16,000 was attributed to structure loss and $8,000 attributed to content loss.
