Topeka Social invites locals to grand opening party

TOPEKA ( KSNT ) – A freshly renovated event space in Topeka’s downtown area is gearing up for a grand opening party next month to show off what is has to offer locals.

Topeka Social, located east of the downtown area next to the Topeka Vendor’s Market , is rolling out the welcome mat to the local market for a grand opening celebration from 7 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2. Guests can enjoy live music from bands like “Chance Encounter” and “The Basement Melons” along with food and beverages.

“We are a venue center that can hold 100-1,000 people for ANY kind of event,” Amy Watkins, manager of Topeka Social, said in a written statement. “Corporate, wedding, live show, conference, quinceanera, the possibilities are endless. We want to partner with Topeka and grow in collaboration with locals, vendors, etc. to provide an enjoyable experience for any event that we host.”

27 News checked in with Topeka Social earlier this year to learn more about the new business. Management at the event space asked Topekans what music they’d like to have play at Topeka Social for dancing events as renovation work took place.

Watkins said the business hopes to pack its space full for the grand opening night and bring more people to the area in general. Attendees will need to pay a cover charge of $10 using this link or at the door on the night of the opening.

“We are creating a unique destination in downtown Topeka by redeveloping 100,000 square feet of historic buildings including the former Topeka Transfer and Storage building and Jordan’s Bakery,” Watkins said. “Topeka Social has an industrial chic vibe in its three distinct yet connected spaces and includes an airstream bar, an 18 foot LED wall, a large stage, and much much more.”
