Topekans will endure 100-degree heat Monday through Thursday, after having seen the temperature reach the century mark on two days so far this year, the National Weather Service predicts.

The capital city will see high temperatures around 91 Saturday and 94 Sunday before the mercury tops out under sunny skies at 100 Monday, 102 Tuesday, 105 Wednesday and 102 Thursday, the weather service said in forecasts posted Friday on the website of its Topeka office.

A predicted high temperature for Friday, Aug. 2, hadn't yet been posted on that site.

Night-time lows will range from 74 to 78 during between Monday and Thursday, the weather service said.

The only potential for rain will be a 20% chance each on Sunday night, Monday and Monday night, it said.

Topeka temperatures have reached the century mark this year on June 24 and July 15, topping out both days at 102 degrees, the weather service said.

Topeka's record for days topping 100 was set in 1936

Topeka saw 15 100-degree days last year, including three in June, three in July, seven on seven consecutive days in August and two in September.

The capital city's record for the most days in a year on which temperatures reached the century mark is 59, in 1936.
