How many of the nation's top 10 fast-food chain burgers can be found in Topeka?

Topekans will need to go elsewhere to sink their teeth into seven of the nation's 10 best fast-food burgers, as chosen by USA TODAY.

Only three of the yummy burgers on that list can be found in the capital city, although the company that produces a fourth may open a location in Topeka.

USA TODAY released the results July 17 while explaining the process it used to determine which quick-service restaurant chain delivers the best burger overall.

"USA TODAY 10Best's editors and a panel of burger buffs set out to crown the absolute best choices on these menus," it said. "Then, our readers voted for their favorites."

Which burgers available in Topeka made the list?

The three burgers available in Topeka that earned sports on USA Today's top 10 list were the following:

    • The cheeseburger at Five Guys, which finished fifth. Five Guys has maintained a Topeka location since 2014 at 1191 S.W. Wanamaker Road. "Legions love the hand-formed burgers cooked on a grill at Five Guys," USA TODAY said . "Count on American-style cheese melted between fresh patties that are placed on a toasted sesame seed bun with as many toppings as you want."

    • Culver's double ButterBurger Cheese, which finished seventh. Culver's maintains a Topeka location at 1035 S.W. Wanamaker Road. "It's hard to resist the double ButterBurger Cheese, which made Wisconsin a serious contender in the burger wars," USA TODAY said . "It's made with fresh, never-frozen beef seared to order and topped with real American cheese from the Badger State."

    • The Whopper at Burger King, which finished eighth. Burger King maintains Topeka locations at 1800 S.W. 10th, 2110 N.W. Topeka Blvd., 2817 S.E. California Ave, 3690 S.W. Topeka Blvd. and 6002 S.W. 10th. "The second-largest fast-food hamburger chain in the world introduced us to the Whopper in 1957," USA TODAY said . "Every year, Burger King sells over two billion of these burgers made with flame-grilled beef patties and topped with tomatoes, lettuce shreds, mayo, pickles, ketchup, and sliced onions — all on a sesame seed bun."

Finishing sixth on USA Today's list was the Double Meat Whataburger from Whataburger, which Topeka City Council members learned last September might establish a location at the southwest corner of S.W. 32nd and Topeka Boulevard.

"Conceived in Texas where everything is bigger, Whataburger features never-frozen beef served on a large bun," USA Today said . "For the famished, the Double Meat Whataburger serves two 100% pure beef patties topped with tomato, lettuce, onions, pickles, and mustard."

What other burgers are at or near the top of the list?

Here were the top four burgers on USA TODAY's list:

    1. The Double Char from California-based The Habit Burger Grill.
    2. The Double-Double from California-based In-N-Out Burger.
    3. The BBQ Rodeo Burger from BurgerFi.
    4. The Jumbo Jack Cheeseburger from Jack in the Box.

Which burgers round out the list?

These two burgers round out USA Today's top 10 list:

    9. The Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger from Carl's Jr. While Carl's Jr. and Hardee's are owned by the same parent company — and Topeka has two Hardee's locations — Hardee's doesn't offer the Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger on its menu.

    10. The 1921 Slider from White Castle.
