    Heritage University recognized with Washington Association of School Administrators Award

    TOPPENISH, Wash. -- Heritage University announced it received a prestigious Washington Association of School Administrators Award during the 44th annual WASA Honorary Award Luncheon.

    Heritage University received the D.A. Davidson Barbara Mertens Legacy Award. Dr. Rick Cole, associate professor of the Education Administration Program at Heritage and Dr. Andrew Sund, president of Heritage University, accepted the award on behalf of the university.

    The 44th annual WASA Honorary Award Luncheon was held June 24, in Spokane, Washington.

    Heritage University said the D.A. Davidson Barbara Mertens Legacy Award is awarded to an individual or group that made a significant lasting impact on public education in Washington.

    “Their vision, commitment and tireless efforts have not only shaped the lives of countless students but have also helped to pave the way for the next generation of school leaders in the Yakima Valley,” said Dr. Sund.

    “The collective efforts of Dr. Bergevin and Dr. Cole have made a significant impact on the educational landscape of our region, and we are truly grateful for their collaborative spirit and dedication to serving the needs of school districts in our region,” said Dr. Hill

    East Umatilla Fire and Rescue District celebrates four years in the community

    WESTON, Ore. — The East Umatilla Fire and Rescue District celebrated its fourth birthday July 1, 2024 with a party at its Main Street fire station. In 2020, there was a vote to combine several of the area fire districts, including the Helix Rural Fire Protection District, the Athena Volunteer Fire Department and the East Umatilla County Rural Fire Protection District into one. This is how the East Umatilla Fire and Rescue District came about.
