Daniel Cormier Comes Out Against Recent MMA Moves

Daniel Cormier has come out against the moves that were legalized recently in MMA. Cormier is a former UFC champion who fought great foes in his time, like Jon Jones. After that, he retired. Now he works for UFC as a top commentator who makes fights much more exciting along with his friends Joe Rogan and Jon Anik. His words are valued in the UFC by Dana White and other officials too.
Daniel Cormier is not against the 12 to 6 Elbows that have been recently legalized in MMA in the way people might think. He wants to clarify that the reason he’s against these changes is that he doesn’t want MMA to look like a street fight. He clearly explained his reason for this.
DC opposed the actions of ABC because he doesn’t like the 12 to 6 elbows, nor the soccer kick. He shared his own experience and what he thinks clearly on his YouTube channel. Daniel Cormier fought Anthony long ago, and he shared his experience with him. DC explained that he wasn’t able to use the 12 to 6 elbow at that time, but he also clarified different situations.
Here are his exact words: “So, here’s my thought, because there’s a little bit of a difference, right? So when I was fighting [Anthony] ‘Rumble’ Johnson, you can’t [throw a 12-to-6 elbow], but if you do a little bit of an arch, it’s OK. Angle and arch.”
Now, we know how Daniel Cormier used an arching elbow move against ‘Rumble.’
“I was able to cut ‘Rumble’ with an arching elbow, but it did come straight down. It was very little in terms of not being straight up and down. I just don’t want anything that makes fighting look like a street fight. That’s it.” These specific moves might make MMA appear like a street fight, according to Daniel Cormier.
Opposing the Decision Due to Jones
Cormier always had a heated rivalry against Jon Jones back when he was fighting. If the 12 to 6 Elbow is legalized, then the only disqualification in the history of Jon Jones will be removed, but Daniel Cormier thinks that won’t be the case. He’s only opposing it due to technical reasons. “Everything kind of looks cleanwithout 12-to-6 elbows. I’m telling you, bro, these are my reasons. I don’t like the 12-to-6 elbow rule change. I mean, 12-to-6 elbow, I don’t feel as strongly about it.”
Daniel Cormier thinks if it is legalized, then it’s going to lead to legalizing other moves also that aren’t legal now. “I don’t care as much about 12-to-6 elbows, but I think the moment we start opening those rules again, then it’s going to be more and more and more.” Do we really want to see MMA or a street fight?
