The Texas Rangers head to Fenway Park to take on the Boston Red Sox in the opening game of their three-game series. The Rangers are coming off a three-game series with the New York Yankees, they lost two of the games. The Rangers are currently third in the AL West and trying to make a run for the AL Wild Card. The Rangers are 24-36 away and the Red Sox are 27-31 at home. The Boston Red Sox are currently in third place in the AL East. The Red Sox are coming off a series where they got swept at home by the Houston Astros. Both teams are looking for wins and to make a run for the playoffs as the second half of the season is slowly coming to an end.

The Texas Rangers are going to start Tyler Mahle coming off Tommy John surgery and the Boston Red Sox are going with Brayan Bello. Good things tend to come whenever Bello is on the mound for the Red Sox. This should be a battle between these AL teams coming off losses and wanting to make the playoffs.

    Key Stats

    Texas Rangers

The starting pitcher for the Rangers is RHP Tyler Mahle. He is returning from undergoing Tommy John Surgery, which made him miss most of the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Currently, Mahle is 0-1 an ERA 1.80 and a pair of strikeouts over five innings in his first MLB game back.

Corey Seager is currently the team leader in batting averages and home runs for the Rangers. Seager has a .274 batting average with 25 home runs and 61 RBIs. He has been dominating for the Texas Rangers this season and hoping to continue against Boston. In the series against New York, Seager had two home runs and three RBIs.

    Boston Red Sox

The Boston Red Sox's starting pitcher is RHP Brayan Bello. Bello is 10-5 with a 5.16 ERA and 109 strikeouts. In his last seven games, Bello is 3-0 with a 4.46 ERA, so he is beginning to pitch a bit better as the season progresses.

Rafael Devers is the leading batting average and home run leader for the Red Sox. In his last seven games, he's struggling with a .613 OPS with one RBI. For the season, Devers has an batting average of .300 with 25 homers and 71 RBIs. Devers will look to take advantage of the Rangers' starting pitcher who has not played much this season and coming off Tommy John surgery.

    Prediction

Despite the fact that the Boston Red Sox are struggling, losing four of their last six games, Boston has a better pitcher and more home runs on the season ranking sixth in the league. The Red Sox have an OBP of .328 this season, which ranks fifth in MLB. Meanwhile, the Rangers rank 20th in batting averages and 20th in runs in baseball. When the Red Sox are favored to win games they have won 55.4% of those games. They are coming into this game as the home favorites and are 22-14 when MoneyLine has them as favorites.

    Final Pick

    Boston Red Sox (-135)
