Duleep Trophy: Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli Likely To Feature

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are expected to be included in the Duleep Trophy squads, which will be named by the Board for Cricket in India (BCCI). While there’s a good chance Ishan Kishan will be selected, it’s unlikely that established players like Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara will. Star Indian players including Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Suryakumar Yadav, and Kuldeep Yadav have reportedly been invited to compete in the Duleep Trophy.

The outstanding pacer for Team India, Jasprit Bumrah, is the lone exception. Cricket has been put on hold for him as he manages his workload. The next Test series between Bangladesh and India, which begins on September 19, will be the team’s primary focus. Jasprit Bumrah’s status in the team is still up in the air because Team India has 10 Test matches coming up in the next four months, five of which are against Australia.

Duleep Trophy’s Strong Candidates

India A, India B, India C, and India D are the four squads that will be chosen by the panel headed by Ajit Agarkar.

Following the elimination of the previous format, the matches will take place at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The Bangalore-based M Chinnaswamy Stadium could host a single match for the BCCI. Veteran pacer Jasprit Bumrah might be rested during the Duleep Trophy event as Mohammed Shami looks to make a return after a protracted injury layoff. India won the T20 World Championship in June, and Bumrah hasn’t played since.

Rohit and Kohli’s Availability Uncertain

The premier players will have to depart the domestic team to complete their national commitments because the domestic schedule will end on September 24 and India’s first Test match against Bangladesh will begin on September 19. “We don’t want to impose anything in that regard, regardless of the NCA’s advice, declare that someone’s body is incapable of handling both red-ball and white-ball cricket,” Shah stated.

“We won’t put up with any more tantrums from anyone healthy and youthful. This is a notification for all players under central contract.” The BCCI has requested that many seniors be available for the forthcoming Duleep Trophy season, which begins on September 5. To get ready for India’s home Test series against Bangladesh starting on September 19, a decision was made.

There will be six games between September 5 and September 24. The availability of Rohit and Kohli for the first two rounds of the Duleep Trophy series is not yet established. Before the Bangladesh series, the board is now organizing a training camp that will take place in Chennai. The report further stated that if that happens, the two will compete in the first round.
